Our Vision

We are a team of educators who are passionate about college guidance and mentoring. We like to help high school students find their pathways to college. Our college guidance approach involves finding a good fit for a student based on the student’s specific academic profile, test scores, extracurricular activities, volunteering, passion projects, and life experiences. We emphasize collaboration with students and families for an effective team approach.

Founder of My Mentor Time

John E. Tozan, the esteemed Founder and Chief Executive Officer of My Mentor Time, boasts a distinguished career spanning over two and a half decades within the spheres of education and non-profit sectors. Mr. Tozan's unwavering commitment to advancing educational causes has left an indelible mark on both national and international platforms.

With a broad spectrum of educational experiences garnered across multiple states, including Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, Mr. Tozan's dynamic career extends beyond borders, with impactful contributions made in countries such as Turkmenistan and Argentina. This rich tapestry of experience has instilled in him a profound understanding of the global educational landscape.

Mr. Tozan's exceptional leadership extends beyond the boundaries of his organization, as he has been instrumental in spearheading noteworthy initiatives and conferences. Notably, his collaboration with Rutgers University resulted in the successful organization of The Cyber Bullying Conference, a pivotal event shedding light on the critical issue of cyberbullying within contemporary education. Beyond this, Mr. Tozan has undertaken various projects aimed at raising awareness about the complexities inherent in the college application process, particularly within underserved communities.

Joanmarie Kalter is a writing coach of My Mentor Time. She earned her bachelor's degree from Cornell University and her master's in journalism from Columbia University. Her own writing has appeared in a wide range of publications, including the New York Times, Columbia Journalism Review, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, TV Guide, and Africa Report.

Her stories have been reprinted in several anthologies, among them Models for Writers (St. Martin’s Press), Our Times 2 (Bedford), and Media Now (Longman).
